Captains Clash Additional Rules & Information
What is a Captain?
- The Captain is the "head" of your roster. You must draft your Captain first, and the rest of your roster must share a type with it.
- For example, if I draft Genesect as my captain, the the rest of my roster must either be Steel/any or Bug Type (or both).
- You can draft Pokemon that share one type with your captain, and any other type (e.g. Heatran or Heracross).
- You CAN draft an Uber Pokemon as your Captain, but only as your captain.
- For example, if I draft Genesect as my captain, the the rest of my roster must either be Steel/any or Bug Type (or both).
How does the ban list differ?
- Banned from entire draft (including being a captain):
- Primals (Primal Groudon, Primal Kyogre, and Mega Rayquaza)
- Mega Mewtwo X & Y
- Zygarde-Complete Form
- Banned from regular draft (but can be captains):
- Protean Greninja
- All Ultra Beasts
How will the draft be formatted?
- The draft will NOT incorporate a points system.
- The format will be strictly a snake draft with the first-come first-serve approach used in season's 1 & 2 of the GTA.
- Each team will draft a Captain first, and then 8 additional players that share its type(s).
- This draft will be completely FREE, meaning no tier-based requirements will be enforced on the draft.
- We will be drafting from Gen 7 Pokebank OU and Gen 7 Pokebank Ubers (for potential captains).
How will matches work?
- Captains must be brought to every match
- When a Captain faints in a match, that costs their team -2 differential instead of the traditional -1.
- Odd-numbered weeks will be Singles (Gen 7 Pokebank OU) matches, and Even-numbered weeks will be Doubles (Gen 7 Pokebank Doubles OU) matches.
- The tournament will be Doubles only.
